LOGISTICS HEROES

Our logistics department employs flexible forklift operators, order pickers, dispatch staff, MHP production staff and supervisory team leaders. Our colleagues are able to adapt quickly, carry out multiple tasks simultaneously and have no difficulty working in cold temperatures or with animal products. Working in logistics involves, amongst other things, loading and unloading goods, order processing and taking joint responsibility as a team for the entire logistics process. As a logistics employee, you think proactively and creatively and know how to respond to unexpected events such as changes in the weather, new trade agreements or logistical challenges. We communicate openly and clearly, maintain short lines of communication and ensure a good working atmosphere. Our logistics heroes play an essential role in the success of the Jan Zandbergen Group.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Are you looking for a varied, flexible part-time job alongside your studies (MBO/HBO/WO) at one of the most forward-thinking companies in the food industry? Then this is your chance!

As a logistics assistant, you’ll have an incredibly varied range of tasks: picking and checking orders, scanning, weighing, driving a forklift or reach truck, loading and unloading – you’ll learn (and be able to do) it all. But if you want to develop your skills and take on more responsibility, that’s certainly possible too. Once you’ve got to grips with the ‘standard’ tasks, you’ll work with the team management to see which additional tasks you might be able to take on, so that your work always remains a challenge. Are you technically minded, for example? Then we’ll teach you how to resolve minor faults. Do you have good ideas on how to improve our warehouse? Then you could take part in one of the improvement projects. The possibilities are endless!

At Jan Zandbergen, we have one of the most modern warehouses in the food industry. The logistics team of 30 colleagues works seamlessly together, ensuring that every order is picked as efficiently as possible and dispatched to our customers across Europe. For us, the customer is king and quality always comes first. This means that no two days – or orders – are ever the same. A total of 90 staff members work in our warehouse every day.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • You will process orders and prepare them for dispatch.

  • You will collect products from various pallets, weigh them accurately, and load and unload goods efficiently.

  • You will check the packaging, labels and use-by dates to ensure products reach the customer as fresh as possible.

  • Once you have obtained a forklift and/or reach truck certificate, you will collect pallets from various locations within our warehouse.

  • Regular working hours are between 5.00 and 6.00 am until 3.00 pm, or you can start at 3.00 pm and work until 1.00 or 2.00 am at the latest; naturally, you’ll receive a good allowance for this, on top of your basic hourly wage. However, we’ll work with you to find the best way to balance your part-time job with your studies. So even if you’d like to work a few hours alongside your studies at times other than these, that’s also possible.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

  • You are currently studying (at MBO, HBO or WO level) and would like to earn some extra money alongside your studies.

  • You are a team player who enjoys contributing ideas to the department and is happy to roll up your sleeves and get stuck in.

  • If you have a forklift or reach truck certificate (or experience), that’s a bonus, but it’s by no means a requirement.

  • You’re not easily cold, and you don’t mind working with animal products.

  • You’re good at switching between different tasks.

  • You’re meticulous, as you weigh orders precisely and carry out (quality) checks.

  • You’re flexible in terms of availability, naturally taking your studies into account and in consultation with the team management.

WHAT DO WE OFFER YOU?

  • A part-time job where you can develop yourself and, potentially, progress in terms of duties, responsibilities and salary.

  • A financially sound employer with a long-term perspective, because even after you’ve finished your studies, we’ll continue to look for opportunities for you within the Jan Zandbergen Group.

  • A gross hourly wage of between €6 and €12 (based on knowledge, skills, age and qualifications). On top of that, you’ll receive a basic allowance, a cold weather allowance, an irregular hours allowance, an overtime allowance, holiday pay and an end-of-year bonus – in short: a good income.

  • 24 days’ holiday per year.

  • A company outing twice a year and a departmental outing once a year to get to know your colleagues well.

  • The opportunity to purchase meat (and meat substitutes) at a competitive price six times a year.

  • A daily lunch provided by the company.
